How to Make an AI Cover Song: Choose What Changes
Decide whether you want a new arrangement or just a different singer. This walkthrough shows which mode to choose, what the source and text fields accept, and what to check in the finished take.
Prepare the Source for Your AI Song Cover
Bring an MP3 you own or are allowed to adapt, or select a completed song in My Songs. The cover upload limit is 50 MB. Listen for a distinct lead melody and clear words before opening the AI song cover route.
If you do not have a recording yet, Singify also offers original song generation. Keep the cover workflow for an existing musical source rather than a text-only idea.
Restyle or Voice Only: Choose What Should Change
Choose Restyle for a new genre, instrumentation or delivery around the source melody. Choose Voice only when the backing and words should remain and the singer should change. This choice determines which fields appear.
The Studio workflow guide explains how those modes fit a session. Restyle is a generated interpretation, so listen for melody changes; Voice only is not the mode for rewriting lyrics or rearranging instruments.
Write AI Cover Instructions with a Focused Sound
Restyle instructions accept 20–200 characters. Give a genre, a few instruments and a vocal delivery. Illustrative prompt: “Acoustic folk, warm guitar, soft brushed drums, intimate male lead, a gentle lift in the final chorus.” This is a text example, not a recorded result or a promise of exact phrasing.
A preset can give you a starting direction. The cover maker page explains the musical choices. When you change the brief, adjust one element first so you can tell which decision helped.
Fit Replacement Lyrics to the Source Melody
Restyle accepts optional replacement lyrics up to 3,000 characters. Leave the field empty to retain the source words, or supply lines that fit its phrasing. Use the AI lyrics generator to draft them, then read them against the beat before submission.
Illustrative rewrite: change “We waited all night for the morning” to “We stayed awake to see the dawn.” Compare syllables and stressed beats in the two lines. A shorter line can give the singer more space, but the model may still change pronunciation or timing.
Use Your Uploaded Voice for an AI Voice Song Cover
In Voice only, use a custom voice sample you have permission to supply. There is no arrangement prompt or replacement-lyrics field in this mode. The custom voice and Voice only workflow require a paid plan; there is no promised celebrity voice catalog.
On the current setup, a Voice only cover costs five Credits. Check Singify pricing before preparing the sample, and follow the requirements shown inside Studio for the selected voice route.
Submit a Free AI Song Cover or Check Paid Credits
After signing in, a Restyle submission can use the shared free allowance of three attempts per UTC day. Original song generation and MIDI conversion draw from that same allowance. Three attempts are not three Credits: paid Restyle costs three Credits per request.
A submission creates one cover task. Watch its status in Studio and open the completed result in My Songs. Avoid submitting the same request again just because the first is still processing.
Compare Melody, Words and the Cover Transition
Listen beside the source: an opening phrase, a complete chorus and the ending. Check melody, language, word clarity, the voice and your requested style. Cover generation is not a guaranteed exact-note edit; even a small requested change can affect the performance.
If the direction works but you want a longer ending, the paid AI song extender can explore a continuation. If the direction missed, revise one source or instruction choice and compare a new take.
Check Downloads and Rights before Sharing the Cover
Cover results start private. Song audio downloads require a paid plan. Commercial permissions apply only to qualifying results generated during an active annual Starter or Plus subscription, as described in the license agreement.
A subscription does not clear rights in the original recording, composition, lyrics or voice. Use a source you are permitted to adapt and check its conditions before sharing or selling a new version.
Questions before you start
Yes. Open the same Studio cover route in your mobile browser, sign in and upload a supported source or choose a completed song. The mode and plan conditions are the same as on desktop.
Use Voice only for that goal, with a permitted custom voice you supply. It preserves the backing and words as the selected workflow; review the output for artifacts rather than expecting every detail to be perfect.
No. Choose Restyle to provide replacement words. Voice only does not include arrangement instructions or a replacement-lyrics field.
Restyle uses the source melody to guide a new interpretation, but exact note-for-note preservation is not guaranteed. Compare recognizable phrases and transitions against the recording.
The generation workflow is not an exact word-replacement editor. A revised request may change delivery or other parts of the take. For a precise edit, plan to review or edit the audio separately.
Avoid conflicting genres, long explanations and generic quality claims. Spend the 20–200 characters on instruments, genre, energy and singing delivery that you can compare by ear.
Shorten long lines, read them against the source beat and check where the stresses fall. A text draft that rhymes may still need changes before it fits the melody.
No. Commercial permissions have qualifying annual-plan conditions and do not clear third-party recordings, compositions, lyrics or voices. You must have the necessary source rights.
